2019 Schedule

MONDAY: Whatcom Falls Park, 9:00-3:00PM

We'll explore land and water, forest and stream. Whatcom Falls has tons of mystery ripe for discovery. With so many options of where to go, we will draw on all our group decision-making skills we develop to help guide us on our explorations.

Drop-off and Pick-up: From I-5 take exit 253 and drive east on Lakeway Drive. Turn left on Silver Beach Road at the traffic signal. Follow the road to the parking lot in front of the playground, picnic shelter, and fish ponds. Map.

TUESDAY: Lake Padden Park (East Entrance), 9:00-3:00PM

We will venture to this popular Bellingham hangout and explore the little known treasures that surround it off trail.  From ponds to creeks, fungus to foliage, we’re bound for discovery. This is a great place for epic games. There are countless memories waiting for us within the sandstone folds of the landscape, under sword ferns, and beneath giant cedars and big leaf maple.

Drop-off and Pick-up: From I-5 take exit 252 (Samish Way) and head south on South Samish Way for 2.4 miles. Turn right onto Lakeshore Drive (Lake Padden Golf Course/Dog Park (east) entrance). Continue to the end of the road and the parking lot near the dog park. Map.

WEDNESDAY: Larrabee State Park, 9:00-3:00PM

After meeting at the Larrabee State Park (Day Use Area), we will gather up and get ready for our time together on the beach. This area provides lots of opportunity to explore tidal pools and take peeks under rocks to see what tiny ecosystems are there for observing. We will explore the transition from forest to beach and play lots of games to keep us entertained.

Make sure to bring water shoes and a swimsuit if you plan on taking a dip in the bay!

Drop-off and Pick-up: From I-5 take exit 250 (Old Fairhaven Parkway) and head west. Turn left onto Chuckanut Drive and head south to Larrabee State Park (approx. 5.5 miles). The main entrance and parking lot will be on your right. Map.

Reminder: A Discover Pass is required for all parking at Larrabee State Park. If you do not have a Pass, please stay with your vehicle and plan to make drop-off and pick-up quick.
