New Moon Night Prowl
Beavers, bats and owls, oh my! Twilight is a great time to watch for wildlife in one of our most treasured parks, which comes alive in different ways after dark. Spend this summer evening wondering what the night will bring and wandering around in the darkness of a New moon. Expect an interactive discussion of nocturnal animal’s adaptations, build a bat wing model and listen for the warning signal of the beavers in the nearby slough.

To reach the park take the Ferndale Exit (262) off Interstate 5, go west to the railroad underpass and stay in the left lane past Haggens and Samuels. You'll make an immediate left right after the underpass (If you go over the bridge, you've gone too far) and follow signs to Hovander park. Park in the gravelly parking lot and head towards the very big barn. Look for the Wild Whatcom Event sign. We will either be right next to the Hovander house or under the white tent near the water tower. Note: I've placed the red marker on parking lot, and the blue markers on the google map right over our two potential meeting places.
